Step 1: Clean the Door and its Surroundings

If the above-mentioned steps do not fix the issue, it could be that the door error is caused by dirt, grease, or food debris around the door. Gently clean the door and its surrounding area using a damp cloth. Make sure you clean the door hooks and the latch assembly carefully. Once done, test your microwave again and see if the issue persists.

Step 2: Check the Door Latch

The first step to fixing a door error is to check if the door is latching correctly. Gently push and pull the door to test the resistance. If you feel it fall freely, it means the latch is not properly aligned. Check the metal door latch and ensure it isn’t damaged or bent. If the door does not latch correctly or is damaged, you will need to replace the door latch.

Step 3: Check the Door Hooks

From there, you will want to move the microwave so you have full access to it.

Remove any screws holding the exterior cover in place. These are typically found along the bottom of the frame. Remove the exterior cover.

Behind the keypad, you will see three small rectangular devices about the size of a USB drive. These are your interlock switches.To replace them, simply disconnect them. You may need a pair of pliers to reach their release tabs.

Now, as you remove the switches, test them for continuity. Each switch should have a small button on it, and the continuity should change when the button is pressed. One will have continuity when the button is pressed. This is your normally closed switch. The other two will lose continuity when the button is pressed but retain it when the button is not pressed. 

You will need to buy replacement switches. You can do this at any appliance repair shop.

Reinstall the normally closed switch in the slot closest to the body of the microwave.

Install the other two in the other two slots.Then replace the exterior cover, and screw it back on,

Move the microwave back into position and plug it in.

Test the microwave for functionality.
