Washer Repair
If your washer isn’t draining properly, then the drain pump is one of the first parts you should check. If the part is broken or it’s leaking, order replacement part WP3363394 for most Whirlpool washers immediately and replace the part with these steps:
- Unplug the washing machine.
- Remove the control panel. Unscrew the panel and remove any trim along the top. Then remove it by pushing it slightly forward towards the front of the machine and then swing the cover backward.
- Remove the washer’s body from the frame. First, unplug the lid switch from the wire harness near the control panel and then pry off the clips holding the body to the back wall of the washer. Then grab the front of the body under the lid, tilt it up, and lift the whole body away. The washer pump will now be visible near the floor.
- Pull the clamps away and remove the hoses. Pry the two clips around the pump away and remove the top one so it’s not in the way. Pull the pump away from the motor shaft.
- Install the replacement part. Line the internal shaft frame with the motor shaft so it fits together without pressure. Put the pump back into position, snap the lower clip back on, and then twist the top clop into position and finish clamping the pump. Next, fit the hoses over the pump (connecting the correct pumps over the holes in the correct order), and reclamp the hoses into place with a set of pliers.
- Reassemble the washing machine. First, place the body back over the frame at a 45-degree angle, slide the front edge under the lip, and then slowly release it back into position. Next, reattach the clamps at the top and plug in the lid switch. Now you can flip the control panel back into place and replace the hardware locking it into position.
