How to Replace Your Kitchenaid Dishwasher’s Detergent Dispenser W11032769

If you come across a dishwasher that doesn’t release the detergent correctly according to its cycle, or it doesn’t release it at all, the detergent dispenser is probably broken. Replace it by following these steps and installing a new dispenser (part #W11032769):

  1. Power down the dishwasher by turning off the circuit breaker. This is both for your safety and the safety of the appliance.
  2. Unscrew the outer door panel from the interior metal door panel, then fully unscrew the metal from the inner door panel. Remove the retaining pin and lift the outer panel so you can access the inner workings from outside the machine. Unlike many other models, this dishwasher has three door panels: from the outside in, they are the custom outer panel that matches the kitchen cabinets, the metal panel, and the inner panel. The dispenser is between the metal and inner panels.
  3. Unclick the tab of the wire connector from the detergent detector motor. Then unscrew the bracket from the dispenser. While there is only one group of wires connecting to the dispenser motor, always take a picture of wiring before you disconnect it to ensure you replace it correctly.
  4. Bend back the tabs holding the dispenser in place in the panel, and reach inside the machine to fully remove the dispenser. The tabs will stay bent back instead of folding back into place, so bend them back into their original position once the old dispenser has been removed.
  5. Snap the dispenser into the interior of the door.
  6. Screw the metal bracket back into place, reconnect the wires, and replace the metal and custom outer doors.

Different dishwashers have different configurations and different procedures from accessing even clearly positioned parts. Go to Appliance Express to find the right repair steps for your particular model and part.
