How to Replace the On/Off Switch on a Bosch Dishwasher

If you get a call that one of your customer’s dishwashers isn’t turning on, the on/off switch might be the problem. Follow these steps to access the part for a visual inspection and to replace it if needed. Once you ascertain the part is broken, you need an on/off switch with a part number of 00424410 for Bosch dishwashers.

1. Unplug the dishwasher.

The first step of almost every repair job should be to remove the appliance from its power source. This keeps you and the machine safe.

2. Remove the door access panel.

The outer door is held in place by six screws along the interior edge of the door. Loosen the screws and set them aside. Then close the door. Pull the door panel down and away from the door to fully remove it.

3. Access the control panel.

Remove the door and loosen the six screws holding the control panel in place. The control panel box is on the outside of the door. Carefully pull it away so you can access the wires. You will need to hold it at all times so the wires aren’t strained.

4. Remove the on/off switch.

On the left side of the control panel, you will see the switch and a blue wire harness attached to it. Pull the wire harness free. Then pry the tabs on the on/off switch free and pull the part out. As you are prying the tabs free, apply pressure to the back of the switch towards you (or the top of the access panel). Set it aside.

5. Replace the switch.

Align the protruding tabs of the new switch with the cut-outs in the control panel and push it into place until you hear it lock. Then reconnect the wire harness. It should also snap into place.

6. Reassemble the machine.

Retighten the six interior screws that hold the control panel in place. Then snap the outer door panel back into place and tighten the six interior screws that hold that panel in place.
