How to Replace a Cracked Dispenser Assembly in a LG Washer

The dispenser assembly in your LG washer model WM2550HWCA distributes soap, bleach, and softener during a wash cycle. A crack in the dispenser can cause the part to leak water. Luckily, replacing the assembly is a quick and easy repair. If you’re switching out the damaged dispenser yourself, the detailed directions provided below will help you get the job done in no time at all.

How to Replace the Dispenser Assembly in Your Washer

Unplug your washer and turn off its water supply before starting your repair. Safety goggles and work gloves should be worn to protect your eyes and hands from injury.

At the back of your appliance take out the Phillips screws securing the top panel to the washer. Pull the panel back approximately one inch before lifting it up and off your appliance.
Move to the front of your washer and pull out the dispenser drawer. Push down on the locking tab located in the middle of the drawer to completely remove it from the washer. Once the drawer is out of the way, you’ll see two Phillips screws, unthread them with your screwdriver.
Look inside the washer cabinet, and locate the wire harness that is clipped onto the side and back of the dispenser assembly. Pull the harness off the assembly.
To disconnect the dispenser assembly from its housing, slide the assembly back to disengage the locking tabs. Once the assembly is free, use a screwdriver to loosen the clamp securing the dispenser hose to the back of the dispenser assembly. Pull the hose off the dispenser.
Before detaching the remaining 4 hoses, place a mark on each one to ensure they are reinstalled in the proper spot. After the hoses are labeled, use pliers to slide the clamps on the hoses down, and then pull the hoses off the dispenser.
Now that the cracked dispenser assembly is removed, you can start installing the new dispenser. Begin by connecting the labeled hoses to the corresponding shafts. Once the hoses are on, use your pliers to slide the clamps up to properly seal the hose connection.
Attach the larger dispenser hose to the dispenser assembly and tighten the clamp with your Phillips screwdriver.
Slide the dispenser assembly forward to engage the locking tabs. After the assembly is secure, reinstall the two Phillips screws you removed from the front panel and reinsert the dispenser drawer.
Reconnect the wire harness to the side and back of the dispenser assembly, and reinstall the top panel to your washer.
Plug-in your appliance and turn on the washer’s water supply. Fill your appliance with a load of dirty laundry and run a wash cycle to ensure the leak is gone.
