"Arrived on site to inspect freezer not cooling. Upon further inspection, I found ice built up on both sides of the evap cover and at the bottom in the drain pan. Using my steamer, I removed the ice from the sides and bottom and removed the evap cover to find a large block of ice in the drain pan (photos). I removed the ice and cleared the drain tube. I tested ohms to the defrost element and found it open. I removed and replaced the element/bimetal assembly and retested and unit is operating as designed. Evaporator had a good frost pattern developing and unit was beginning to cool. No water leaks observed during service, job completed."

I cleared all of the ice from the tub and placed the cleaning solution in the reservoir, along with 32oz of water and started the cleaning cycle. I cleaned the condenser coil and around it. Continued to monitor the cleaning cycle and advised the customer that at the end of the cycle, they will need to remove the cap rom the reservoir and allow the water to empty from the reservoir. Once the water is all out, place the cap back on and press the on button to start a new ice making cycle. No water leaks observed during service, job completed. I recommended discarding the first 2 batches of ice."

Arrived on site for refrigerator intermittently tripping breaker. Inspected unit and work area. Performed diagnostics mode and tested defrost circuit and found closed. Ran defrost cycle and measured amp draw on L1 at control and found drawing 4 amps. Measured ohms on defrost circuit at 31.6 ohms. Powered unit on and activated compressor. Measured amp draw to compressor at .9 amps. Called Whirlpool tech support and spoke with Joel. Went over prior diagnostics and checked for loose ground on unit. He stated that is what is called a nuisance trip due to it being very intermittently. He stated that unit is working as designed. Spoke with customer on service performed and informed him he may have a loose ground in home. Customer informed me that failure started to occur after having solar panels installed. No water leaks detected during service.

I set unit in diagnostics cycle but would not finish cycle replaced control and drain pump as pump was stuck. After installing new parts set unit on diagnostics cycle again and it would trip GFCI breaker. I ran my extension cord to a regular outlet and completed the diagnostics cycle just fine. I inspected for any water in electrical components and found nothing wrong. No error codes after cycle was completed. Explained to CX to get an electrician to inspect breaker and outlet. Unit is operating as designed. No water leaks observed during service. Job completed.

Upon further inspection, the customer advised that they had replaced the water valve due to the error code LF or long fill, but after replacing the part, the unit continued to not operate. I placed the unit in diagnostics showing error code F8E1 & F0E3. Cleared the codes and attempted to calibrate the unit, but the calibration failed. I removed the control panel and found the sensor tube not connected to the main control (photo). Advised the customer of my findings. Reconnected the tube and placed unit in diagnostics. Remove the evaporator cover and found a big ice ball up in the upper right hand section near the Tube indicating a leak or a restriction. Ordering all sealed system components including the evaporator and compressor. Service will need to be scheduled for three hours due to lokring fittings and multiple sealed system components. I attempted to place the unit in diagnostics but it failed. I removed the outer door panel to access the control and UI and found a liquid substance on the control panel housing and appears it got on the UI. I tested the harness and it is good. I advised the customer that the UI would need to be replaced but it is on out of stock with no eta. I advised that someone from our office would keep in contact and schedule when the part arrives. "Arrived on site for a refrigerator that is not cooling in the refrigerator section. Inspected unit and work area. Confirmed customers complaint and removed the lower drawers. Found a defrost issue in the evaporator section. Found that the drip pan was bowed and the evaporator covered in frost. Found several parts were sent with but needed to order a user interface as well. I did explain to the customer that with fresh food evaporator defrost issues, they can cause sealed system issues as well and one of the customer to be aware of that prior to initiating repair. Customer is aware and still wants to proceed with repairs. Customer is aware that if I sealed system issue is present, they would be liable for those repairs as well and a refund cannot be given. Ordering parts in the office will need to contact the customer about a return date due to an out of stock and PSP item. I put the unit into diagnostics mode and found the IB fan ran as designed and the ice level sensor good. I found stored error code E2 for IM lost position. I then tried to run an IM harvest and found it would not harvest. I then ran a IM fill and found it ran through as designed. This indicates a faulty IM. I installed a new IM and then tested the unit.
