"Arrived on site for fridge not cooling properly. I inspected the unit and work area. I found the rc section at 60 degrees. I found the return vent clear of ice, and the damper door opening and closing when called for. I gained access to the freezer evaporator and found it full of ice, not defrosting properly. I found the thermistor in the wrong position. I tested the thermistor in a cup of water and found it reading over 8kohms, which is reading below 36 degrees. I found the evaporator fan working and the blades are spinning. I tested the defrost heating element and found 26 ohms, showing a good defrost element. I tested the inline thermal fuses for the defrost element and found them intact. I put the unit into diagnostics mode and ran the condenser fan, I found it running. I out the unit into a defrost and tested voltage to the heating element, I found none. I gained access to the control and tested voltage from the control to the defrost circuit and found 120 vac at the control. I found voltage going into the cabinet harness but not coming out in the freezer, indicating a bad harness in the cabinet, making the unit not repairable.I let the customer know my findings.
