DRYER AMANA NED4655EW1 "arrived on site to inspect dryer with no operation. I found that was plugged in and the timer was on, but it had no power. I verified voltage at the outlet and terminal block. I removed the back panel and tested ohms to the element, cutoffs, fuse and thermostat. I found the element was badly damaged and had arced against the heater box and appears that the coils broke off and started a small fire. The fuse and cutoffs were open as well. The thermostat was good. I removed and replaced the element, fuse and cutoffs. I removed the front panel and drum to inspect the inside of the unit and found a small area in the back left corner where a fire had been. I advised the customer of my findings and they advised that they knew about the fire. I removed and replaced the dryer kit due to the back left roller was damaged. The unit turns on and the drum/motor turn, but the Ignitor is not coming on due to the thermostat/coils not functioning. I am ordering the thermostat, coils, and Ignitor. The burner that was prescreened was defective due to the Ignitor being broken. No lint observed during service and no gas leaks detected during service.
