DISHWASHER WHIRLPOOL KDPE234GPS0 Arrived on site for Ran cycle and dishwasher wouldn?t drain. Emptied manually and checked filters. Then ran again and dishwasher started leaking. Removed kick plate and found drain hose line disconnected. Reconnected drain hose to drain pump and ran diagnostics. No error codes came on. Still not draining and drain pump was clicking and making a ratcheting noise. Replaced drain pump and ran another diagnostics and still not draining. Clicking and ratcheting noise was gone. Customer recently installed a new disposal and failed to punch in the knockout. Punched in knockout and set to drain. Dishwasher draining as designed. No leaks detected. Job completed.

Upon arrival I spoke to techline who had me check temps then go ahead and replace the convection sensor and thermistor as well as the main control. Upon replacing the convection thermistor I found the convection fan motor sitting loose on the cavity. I tested the windings on the motor and they did not show correct resistance. Upon further inspection, I found the unit with clothing in the basket, lid locked and the control would not respond to being placed in diagnostics. I checked the breaker and it is good. Lifted the top panel and customer removed clothing. Removed console and found the main control diagnostic LED not on. Tested voltage to the cool and got 125V. Tested VDC at the J14 pin and only got .7VDC from J14-1 to J14-4 when it should be reading +12.7VDC. I advised this customer of my findings and that the control is currently out of stock with no estimated arrival time/date. I am ordering the main control and office to schedule return service. I recommended that the customer contact Whirlpool for assistance in the meantime. Upon arrival I ran a diagnostic test and verify that each cycle was filling agitating washing draining and drying etc. during the dry cycle I was able to verify and test at the main control with sending 120 V down at the heating element and protective TOD at the bottom and the heating element was heating up the dishwasher and functioning as designed I did fine however that the OWI sensor that test the inner temperature of the water and air in the tub was not functioning and reading correctly that the unit needed to be dried still then replace the own sensor and retest of the unit and verified that it was drying during a automatic dry cycle exactly as designed. Unit operated as designed until it began to agitate and the agitation was very loud. I tilted the unit back and found a large amount of gearcase oil on the side panels, rotor and drain pump. I advised the customer of my findings and that the gearcase is out of stock. I am ordering the gearcase and will return with the slider and clutch.
