REFRIGERATOR WHIRLPOOL KRFC604FSS01 Arrived on site to diagnose a refrigerator that is not producing ice and has extended freeze option on no matter freezer settings. Contacted tech line and spoke with Andrew. He advised when icemaker is turned on unit will drive freezer temperature lower to compensate for airflow to icebox. This will turn on the extended freeze light on user interface and is normal. Also checked all temperature and icemaker function through diagnostics and all checks good at this time. Per Techline Ice clumping is most likely due to high water pressure and house water pressure would need to be regulated. Performed hard reset on unit per tech lines recommendation. No further repairs are needed and all is working properly at this time. No leaks were found at time of service.Sr#7729150079

Upon arrival the customer stated that the unit would turn on and fill up and drain but would not agitate after speaking with customer about symptoms I ran a diagnostic mode on the unit and found an F for E3 air code indicating the motor was having a problem I didnt check connectors P5-1 & p5-2 Make sure that the main control was sending the proper 120 V down to the motor that I needed to and I found out what was going on was the actuator was burning itself out and skipping a cycle of going from Phil automatically to drain even though the motor is receiving the proper voltage the actuator started giving off a burning smell I could not find any amperage draw that was excessive or any electrical failures from the main control. I found that the sump assembly that the actuator is attached to it starting to go bad and needs to be replaced I informed the customer that the part is currently out of stock in

Cleared the code and continued with testing. The unit dispensed water and the motor failed to come on. I advanced through testing and the dispenser, drain pump operated as designed, but the element did not get very hot. I gained access to the control and placed the unit back into diagnostics and tested voltage t the control and found the control is not sending voltage to the motor. Checked ohms to the motor and it was good. I removed and replaced the main control and retested and the unit is operating as designed. No water leaks observed during service, job completed."
