Replacing a Maytag Microwave Door Handle
Microwave door handles can be put under a lot of pressure, and sometimes they can start to work loose, develop cracks around the connection points, or break free altogether. If your door handle is beyond repair, you can easily replace it with a new one. Be sure to order the right handle for the make and model of your microwave. To order appliance parts, click here. Please keep in mind that the following instructions can vary by model. If you are not sure how to replace your handle, contact us. We are happy to help!
Once you have your new handle, open the door to look in the interior of the microwave. Snap the trim around the edge of the door with a flat screwdriver or a knife. The handle screws are right behind this trim, so all you have to do is unscrew both screws to remove the handle. If you’re investigating your microwave before you order a new door handle, this is a great opportunity to compare the screws and connection points of your original handle to the one you’re about to buy to make sure they’re identical.
Screw on your new handle securely but not tight enough to risk cracking the plastic. Then snap the casing back into place with your hand and make sure the seal is complete before using your microwave again. Then your new microwave door handle is fully installed!
